SPMC to Participate in Upcoming Webinar: "Package Integrity: A Look at False Alarms"

Linthicum, MD | 10. 15. 2010

People often mistake visual imperfections in films as a dangerous breech of integrity. Often these anomalies are part of the process and the parent material, and have no damaging affect on fit, form or function.

SPMC will be addressing these issues in “Package Integrity: A Look at False Alarms,” a webinar to be hosted by Pharmaceutical & Medical Packaging News on November 10 at noon (EST). Marie Tkacik of Beacon Converters will serve as moderator.

In the first presentation, Ferdos Siadat will provide a means to understand what gels are, how they are formed and how to identify them.

In the second segment, Dhuanne Dodrill of Rollprint Packaging Products, Inc. will clarify what affect pinholes in foil have…or don’t have…on package integrity and barrier. This topic comprises SPMC’s most frequently downloaded FAQ on the organization’s website.

Lastly, Geoff Pavey, Principal Engineer/Packaging Development, Oliver-Tolas Healthcare Packaging, will describe the existing ASTM integrity testing standards and the newest working documents on dye penetration integrity testing. These new documents will provide simple alternatives for testing integrity in non-porous and opaque materials and pouches and expand the techniques that can be used with porous packaging.
