SPMC collaborates with supply chain partners and regulators to provide packaging requirement guidance, test methodology clarity, standards development, and user education.

SPMC & ASTM International

ASTM provides a global forum for the development and publication of voluntary consensus standards for materials, products, systems and services that are accepted and used in research and development, product testing, quality systems and commercial transactions around the globe. SPMC’s technical committee members are active participants on various ASTM subcommittees including F02 on Primary Barrier Packaging and D10 on Packaging. SPMC members have served and continue to serve as chairpersons in F02.

SPMC & AAMI

The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation is dedicated to increasing the understanding, safety, and efficacy of medical instrumentation. SPMC members are actively involved in the work of AAMI’s ST/WG 07, Packaging Group. The FPA SPMC representative serves as co chair of this committee. SPMC members led the effort to create ANSI/AMMI/ISO TIR 16775, Guidance for ANSI/AAMI/ISO 11607, Packaging for terminally sterilized medical devices-Part 1 and Part 2.

SPMC & IoPP

The Institute of Packaging Professionals is dedicated to creating networking and educational opportunities that help packaging professionals succeed. Many of SPMC’s members serve on various task groups within IoPP’s Medical Device Packaging Committee (MDPC). The MDPC provides a forum to discuss a wide range of topics that concern the medical device packaging industry and to support a framework of task groups to act upon specific issues and concerns identified by the MDPC.
